We think that it’s important to begin our relationship with all our patients on the right foot, so we look at your first visit as an opportunity to provide a firm foundation for trust, understanding, and mutual respect. Your first visit with us isn’t a commitment, it’s an exploration of whether we are right for each other. Not only will we get acquainted, we’ll talk about our expectations and goals so that we know we’re on the same page.

Basic Paperwork

These days, there’s no reason to waste precious time going over paperwork. Instead, we try to get this out of the way before your first visit. We will send you the forms you need so that you can fill them out in the comfort of your own home and at your own convenience.

When you send the forms back to us, we will review them, and you won’t have to waste that time sitting around the waiting room. Instead, you only need to come to our office for your actual consultation with your patient coordinator and dentist.

At Your Consultation

First, our new patient coordinator will meet with you privately in our consultation room. This will begin as a one-on-one conversation. Our new patient coordinator can give you information about our practice, but, even more importantly she will listen to you. We want to know how you feel about your smile, your bite, and your overall health. We want to have an understanding of where you are and what are your goals.

After this initial conversation, we will take digital photographs of your mouth and your smile. We will also take measurements to determine the health and balance of your bite. This is a quick and noninvasive way to determine the aesthetics and health of your mouth at this point. We won’t take x-rays at this visit, and we’ll never randomly poke and prod at your teeth and gums. It’s important to us that you feel comfortable and relaxed at this first visit.

After the initial images are taken, you will meet with your cosmetic dentist as well as the new patient coordinator to review your photographs. We put them on a big screen TV so you can really see what’s going on in your mouth. Now we can talk again about your concerns and your goals with concrete reference to the actual state of your teeth. We can also call up data about your bite so we can begin to address functional as well as cosmetic issues.

In conversation with our dentist and patient coordinator, we will all get a greater understanding of the current condition of your mouth and jaw. We will explore options to solve problems and overcome challenges that keep you from being completely happy with the health, beauty, and function of your mouth and jaw. You will have choices about what should be done about these issues, or even whether we should continue to work together or not.

Why We Charge for a Consultation

We understand that many dentists offer free consultations, but in most cases the dentist gives you little of his time and even less of his attention. With our consultation, we give you over an hour of our undivided attention. With the digital imaging, bite measurement, and extensive conversation, you will come out of the consultation with a much greater understanding of the current state and future potential of your smile and oral health. Our patients tell us that the consultation was a much better value than any free consultation they ever received.
